BEIJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- The relationship between China and the United States has arrived at a highly critical juncture after over four decades of generally stable development.
Responding to the U.S. impulse and anxiety with calm and reason shows China's sense of responsibility, said Eduardo Regalado, a researcher at Cuba's Center for International Policy.
"They are not trade store workers or visitors. They are important contract workers and will be here for six or more months," he said.
The anti-China forces in the United States have groundlessly smeared the national security legislation for Hong Kong and introduced the so-called U.S. sanctions targeting officials of the central government agencies responsible for Hong Kong affairs and the HKSAR government. It exposed the hegemonic nature of these anti-China forces in the United States.
"What they are up to is to stitch up lies to blind the American people and fool international public opinion," he added.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the founding of the United Nations. "We must not allow the international system to be undermined arbitrarily, or the world divided again," Wang said.
However, he acknowledged that the current political climate in the United States might make that difficult as the November presidential elections draw near.
"First, the normalization of relations between our two countries and the growth of this relationship over the decades has served the interests of both countries and the world very well," he said. While expanding domestic demand was stressed, it would be a mistake to consider that China will retreat from the global economy. Rather, China will utilize domestic and international resources more efficiently, ensuring robust and sustainable development.
Against the backdrop of globalization and the rampant COVID-19 pandemic, this is not the right style and approach to conduct international politics, said Paunov, noting that solidarity and cooperation are more powerful than fighting alone.
